I often dread going to the eye doctor for my annual checkups. The doctor asks me to take off my glasses and read the tiny little letters on the room's far wall. Even though I know that the whole point of coming in is to check my vision, I find it frustrating when I can't make out the letters. But in the end, I am only cheating myself because when I squint to make out the correct letters, I know I am not getting an accurate prescription. Getting past my perfectionism allows me to see clearly.
