I've written about managing our inner voices before. Taking "self-talk" a step further, we can be our best cheerleaders and coach - we know what we want better than anyone! Pumping ourselves up when we need it before a big moment with positive, encouraging words is common in elite athletes, and it is something anyone can do. When done in the second or third person (you or she), it also gives you a little distance and helps you think about how you'd coach someone else or want to be coached. Change your thought from I to you next time and give yourself a pep talk and see how it feels. "You got this!"
